D'var for Vayikra

This week’s parsha is Vayikra, the first parsha in the book of Leviticus. In Vayikra, God tells Moses about the laws concerning burnt offerings in the Tabernacle, such as which animals could be sacrificed as burnt offerings and how. There was also a meal offering, which was salted and unleavened flour with oil, which was cooked in a pan. A portion was burnt on the altar, but the priests ate the rest of it. Also described in gorey detail are “sacrifices of well-being,” sin offerings, and guilt offerings.
